Disability Rights & Resources is seeking a Work Incentives Counselor to
provide work incentives planning and assistance directly to beneficiaries
with disabilities under the State of Alabama Benefits Offset National Demonstration Project, funded by the Social Security Administration. Must
have the ability to interpret federal, state, and local laws, regulations,
and administrative code about public benefits; must possess knowledge of
SSDI, SSI, and federal work incentives; must have excellent computer skills;
must have good interviewing, counseling and evaluation skills; and must be
able to translate technical information to lay people. People with
disabilities encouraged to apply. Must attend intensive work incentives
training program and become a certified Work Incentives Counselor.
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, vocational guidance, counseling, or related
fields is desirable. Could consider lesser education combined with related
experience. Must adhere to the independent living philosophy. Disability
