Now Hiring: Healthy Homes Production Coordinator
Location: Birmingham, Alabama (In-Person)
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
About the Role
Disability Rights & Resources is seeking a Healthy Homes Production Coordinator to lead and manage our Healthy Homes Production Grant Program. This position is responsible for ensuring the program’s success through effective day-to-day operations, compliance with regulations, and collaboration with contractors, community partners, and internal teams.
The coordinator will oversee housing rehabilitation projects and support efforts to reduce home health hazards such as radon, lead, and allergens—helping create safer, healthier living environments for our community.
Key Responsibilities
Collaboration
- Maintain regular communication with the CEO, COO, and Community Development Director on program progress and challenges.
- Provide required data and updates to the Community Development Director.
- Partner with the accounting team to maintain timely and accurate financial processes.
- Serve as a liaison between contractors, inspectors, consumers, and DRR staff.
Financial Management
- Manage the approved budget and request revisions as needed.
- Process contractor payments and submit documentation promptly.
Program Management
- Oversee all grant activities, from planning through execution and evaluation.
- Follow HUD and federal procurement requirements to hire qualified contractors.
- Verify program applicant eligibility and maintain compliance documentation.
- Coordinate environmental reviews, project scheduling, and temporary relocations as needed.
- Provide and oversee training on safe work practices and hazard mitigation.
- Lead targeted outreach and education to promote the program and protect vulnerable populations.
Reporting
- Maintain accurate program data, project records, and consumer service documentation.
- Prepare and submit progress, outcome, and financial reports to funders and DRR leadership.
Required Travel
- Local travel to project sites and stakeholder meetings.
- Occasional travel to HUD-required trainings, including:
- One-time OLHCHH New Grantee Orientation (Washington, DC area)
- Annual Program Manager School (location varies)
Qualifications
Required:
- Proven project management experience.
- Experience in housing code enforcement, rehabilitation, lead hazard control, or related work.
Preferred:
- 3+ years in program coordination, grant management, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Project Management, Public Health, Construction Science, or related field.
Preferred Skills & Qualities
- Experience conducting environmental reviews.
- State license or certification in radon testing or mitigation (NRPP/NRSB credentials).
- Certification as a Healthy Housing Practitioner or Lead Sampling Technician.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
